Grain with only the inedible outer husk removed. The bran coating gives it a light tan colour. Uncooked.

Sugars, minerals and vitamins were derived from a composite sample of 2 brands of rice (1x Sunbrown and 1x Mahatma) (Comp. of Aust Foods.13-Rice - Food Tech. Aust 34:66-68). Folate was derived from a composite sample of 1 brand of rice (6x Sunbrown) (1997-98 ANZFA Folate Project). Dietary fibre, Cu, Mn, P, Cl, Se, S, F, ATOC, B6, pantothenate, biotin and fatty acids were derived from a composite sample of 2 brands of rice (4x Sunbrown and 4x Mahatma) purchased in Adelaide (1993 Cereal catch up program).
