Oats, rolled, raw

Crushed grain produced by steaming and flattening the oats with rollers. No further cooking. Includes traditional and quick cooking styles.

Sugars, fatty acids, and some vitamins and minerals were derived from a composite sample of 3 brands of oats (2x Parsons, 2x Uncle Tobys and 2x Blue Lake) purchased in Adelaide (AGAL 1987 - Seafood and Products, Cereals). Dietary fibre, starch, Cu, Mn, P, Cl, Se, S, F, ATOC, B6, pantothenate and biotin were derived from a composite sample of 3 brands of oats (3x Blue Lake, 3x Savings and 3x Old Mill) purchased from Adelaide (1993 Cereal Catch-up Program). Folate and dietary fibre was derived from a composite sample of 4 brands of oats (Uncle Tobys, Parsons, Savings and Anchor) purchased in Melbourne (1997/98 ANZFA Folate Program). Folate was also determined in a composite of 6 purchases of raw oats (2x Uncle Tobys Traditional, 2x Uncle Tobys Instant, 1x Lowan, 1x Home Brand) in Sydney in March 2005. Iodine was determined in a composite sample of 8 purchases of oats (3x Uncle Tobys, 3x Lowans, 2x Farmland) in Melbourne in December 2005. Protein, fat, Na, K, ash, fibre and moisture were also supplied by industry in 2005.
