Beef, mince, low fat (lean/heart smart), dry fried (2008)

Minced beef supplied with a fat content of around 8%, cooked by frying without added fat. Includes minced beef labelled as lean, heart smart, five star, choice or extra lean.

Most proximates, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and tryptophan are from either individual or composite analyses of 8 samples of dry fried lean minced beef, purchased raw nationally across the summer and winter months of 2008 (Key Foods Program, 2008). Minerals and BCAR are from a composite of 10 samples of lean beef mince purchased raw from 10 supermarkets/butchers in Melbourne and Sydney in 2002 and cooked in the laboratory (MLA 2007). Dietary fibre is imputed zero.
