Nut, almond, with skin
The majority of the nutrients including proximates, minerals, vitamins and fatty acids were derived from a composite of 6 samples (2x Ducks, 2x Lucky and 2x Kernel brown) of almond kernels purchased from supermarkets in SA in April, 1989 (AGAL 1989). Trace metals including As, Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, Sb, Se, Zn, were derived from 9 samples of almonds purchased nationally in 2000 (20th ATDS). Additional trace metals (Cr, I, Mo, Se, and Ni) were derived from 6 samples of almonds purchased nationally in 2004 (22nd ATDS). Cholesterol, retinol and vitamin C were imputed zero. Folate was borrowed from the USDA, record 12061. Note low sum of proximates - data should be used with caution.
