Juice, orange, shelf stable, added vitamin c

Commercial beverage prepared from the endocarp of navel oranges. Contains added vitamin C but no added sucrose. Includes shelf stable products.

The majority of nutrients including proximates, vitamins and minerals were derived from a composite of 10 purchases of 4 brands (6x Just Juice, 2x P&N, 1x Berri, 1x Original Juice Co) of shelf stable unsweetened juice purchased nationally in each state and territory capital city and two regional centres in NSW and QLD (2006 - KFP). Vitamin C was determined in the 10 individual purchases in the same program. Tryptophan, B6 and fatty acids were determined in composite of 10 purchases of 6 brands of chilled orange juice as part of the same program. Sugars, moisture, tocopherols, folates, I, starch and pyridoxine were determined in a composite of 8 purchases of 5 brands (2x Berri, 2x Just Juice, 2x P&N, 1x Farmland, 1x Golden Circle) of shelf stable juice purchased in Melbourne (2006 - AIP). F, S and biotin were determined in composite sample of 6 brands of chilled and shelf stable unsweetened juice purchased in Adelaide (1989 - AGAL). Na, K, Ca, Fe, Mn, P, Cr, Ni, Mo, Se and Cl were determined in 5 composites of 2 purchases each from NSW, ACT, SA, WA, NT (2004 - 22nd ATDS). Heavy metal values were averaged from the 19th, 20th and 22nd ATDS. Cholesterol was imputed as 0.
