Beetroot, fresh, peeled, raw

Rounded root vegetable with dark brown-purple skin and stems and purple flesh. Edible portion comprises flesh only.

Proximates, organic acids, vitamin A, VITC, B1, B2, B3, K, Na, Ca, Mg, Fe and Zn were derived from a composite of 5 purchases of beetroot from outlets in Sydney in 1983-84 (Wills et al. 1987). Moisture, fibre, vitamin A, ATOC, B6, Cl, Cu, Mn, P, Se, F, folates, pantothenate and biotin were derived from a composite of 10 purchases of beetroot from 10 outlets in Melbourne in 1997 (ANZFA 1997/98).
