Soup, French onion, dry mix

Dry onion soup mix containing dried onion and other ingredients such as mushrooms, herbs, wheat flour, vegetable oil, beverage whitener, milk proteins, salt and vegetable gum. Intended for the preparation of a soup by simmering with added water.

The majority of nutrients were derived from a composite of 10 purchases (2x Continental French onion, 3x Continental French onion with herbs, 1x Continental French onion with mushroom, 1x Savings, 1x Hillendale, 1x Farmland and 1x Maggi French onion) from Melbourne supermarkets in 2002. Note low sum of proximates (79%) which is likely to reflect the presence of carbohydrates not detected by the analytical techniques used.
