Butter, salted

A product derived exclusively from milk and products obtained from milk, principally in the form of an emulsion of the type water-in-oil, containing no less than 80% milkfat. Contains added salt.

Proximates, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids were derived from analysis of individual and composite samples of 3 types of butter (Devondale, Woolworth's Select Creamy Tasmanian and Black and Gold) purchased in supermarkets in NSW, VIC, QLD and TAS in 2008 (2008 KFP). Minerals (K, Na, P, Mn, Fe, Ca, Cl, I, Se, Ni, Mo & Cr) were determined in 6 samples of butter purchased in SA, WA and QLD in November 2004 (22nd ATDS). Vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, biotin, cryp and pantothenate) and minerals (F, Mg and S) were determined from butter samples analysed in 1990 (AGAL Analysis of Fats and Oils). Dietary fibre & sugars imputed zero.
