In this fully revised and updated edition of the 2013 bestseller Toxic Oil, David Gillespie reviews the latest research from this rapidly evolving field linking seed oils to a host of diseases, including cancer.

Over the past century, manufactured seed oils have systematically replaced saturated fats in our diet. Despite nutrition guidelines stating this is good thing, our rates of obesity, diabetes and heart disease are soaring. In fact, recent findings suggest that animal fats are not the villains we once thought them to be.

As most processed foods – from breads and crackers to mayonnaise and pesto – contain seed oils, David shows us how to identify these toxic products and make healthier choices at the supermarket. He tells us which brands to avoid, which to enjoy, and how to create seed-oil free versions of favourite foods at home.

    Dear David
I have been reading your book: The Good Fat Guide and was wondering where Tahini fits into the mix please? Can we use it as a spread with relative safety? Or is it better as the smaller portion in Hummus?
And the other one is Hemp – oil and seeds – how does it rate? The Hemp industry promotes it as being THE go to oil because of its correct proportions of Omega 3, 6, 9. Does this ring true as far as your research findings go?
Thank you for your time and help.

Tahini and Hemp based products – they are both high in omega-6 fats – sorry 🙁

Hi David, what about flax seed? they say it contains lots of omega 3 and its healthy. could you confirm it please? thank you

  • David Gillespie says:

It does contain a lot of omega-3 but large quantitiies of any seed oil (even if it is omega-3) is not a good idea.
